Audience Research

I produced an online survey to help me establish the right target audience for my music video to Miley Cyrus' song 'Wrecking Ball'. Altogether 26 people responded to my survey, the results from the survey are below -

-Are you male or female?

-What is your age?

-Do you prefer music videos with a performance by the band/artist or to have a narrative or both?

-What is your favourite Miley Cyrus song?

From all of Miley's songs only a choice of 5 were listed by the participants altogether, all of the songs being quite recent releases from her.
'Wrecking Ball' - 8
'We Can't Stop' - 11
'Party in the USA' - 1
'Hoedown Throwdown' - 2
'The Climb' - 4

-Which of Miley Cyrus' albums do you prefer the most?

-Why do you prefer this album the most?

Participants of the survey gave a variety of answers but the most frequent answer given was that Miley has created a new style for herself and has displayed this on her new album. They said the new music was fresh and upbeat.

-Do you enjoy watching Miley Cyrus' music videos?

-Why do you/don't you enjoy watching her music videos?

Those that stated that they enjoyed watching her music videos, said they do so because they're very entertaining, she always comes up with something new and presents it in a different way each time just like her image.
Those that stated that they didn't enjoy watching her music videos, said they didn't enjoy them because they can't relate to the music videos or the songs, and even though they can't relate to them they just enjoy listening to the music. Others also stated that her music videos are always about parties and nothing else, this contradicts what the others stated.

From this research I can see that the main target audience for a Miley Cyrus song would be females aged between 13-18. I can also say that many of her audience prefer her new style of music more than her previous styles. From these results I have created a typical target audience member on Voki.
